Our Story

Young and Old United is a nonprofit organization committed to making our seniors feel cared for through our four initiatives and volunteers. With our events, fundraisers, and blog YOU is able to cultivate joyful memories for both generations.

What we Value

Cultivating joy comes from the connections we make with others and the memories we create with them. By creating these connections and joyous memories, a community is built with everlasting bonds. We hope to create this loving community filled with the young, old, and in between to link and engage people across generations. This is why we are excited to partner with many other nonprofit organizations that align with our cause and empower other youth in the process.

Our Beginnings

Jiya Joshi founded Young and Old United (YOU) to honor the love and care her grandparents gave her throughout her life. Weekly check-ins with her grandmother were a cornerstone of Jiya’s childhood, but her grandmother’s passing in 2024 left an emotional void. Determined to give back, Jiya began volunteering at a memory care facility, teaching art as a memory exercise. What started as weekly sessions quickly grew into a mission to connect youth with seniors, fostering joy and emotional support. Inspired by her experiences, Jiya launched YOU to encourage young people to bridge generational gaps and make a difference in the lives of seniors.

Today, YOU thrives with dedicated volunteers who create meaningful connections across communities. Jiya credits her passionate team for turning her vision into reality. With a growing network of supporters, Young and Old United is building a future where every senior feels valued and loved.
